The whole week before and including Easter is the holiest time of the Christian calendar. A time of spiritual excitement, spiritual dread, spiritual shock, then a renewed spirituality and joy. Breault, First Congregational Church of Blue Hill; The Rev.Terry Phillips, First Baptist Church of Blue Hill; and The Rev. Claudia Wyatt Smith of St. Francis by the Sea, Blue Hill. The Rt. Rev. Stephen Lane was the preacher and celebrant at The Great Vigil of Easter. This service has ancient origins as the new light of Christ’s light is ignited transforming the bits of paper on which we have been writing our burdens through the season of Lent. Assisting Rev. Claudia this year were the Rev’s Steve Hayward, Carlton Russell, Bob Tobin and Persis Williams.
