This has been an emotional week for St. Francis as we had a wonderful Thanksgiving for and celebration for the life of Libbie Cluett. The Celebrant was The Rev. Allan Sandlin who shared many personal remembrances of Libbie. The Choir honored one of their own by wearing Red, White, and Blue which is how Libbie dressed every Sunday closest to her birthday which was the 4th of July.
And we learned on Sunday that long-time member of St. Francis, Peter Smith passed last Saturday with the love of his life his wife Donny held his hand. Services have not yet set. If you wish to send Donny a card, her address is in the Members and Friends List booklet.
The Rev. Steve Hayward was Celebrant and Preacher substituting for our Rector -The Rev.Dr. Brent Was who continues on medical leave.
“Keep thy lamp trimmed and burning” Charles W. Schaeffer (1813-1896) (from The Golden Sheaf hymnal, 1885) (Charles W. Schaeffer was the nephew of St Francis By The Sea Choir member Carroll Connard’s great great grandfather, Charles F. Schaeffer, a founder of The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. C. W. Schaeffer was a hymn writer/translator. Our score indicates that “O. W. Schaeffer” [sic] also wrote the music.) Music used by permission: One License #A-732785 All rights reserved.
